What is your show about?
SomethingTV is a look at some of the biggest political, economic, environmental and technology news from around the world. That’s how we start every show, but what do we mean when we say it?
SomethingTV is about sharing information in this ever-shrinking global environment. We want everyone to have access to all of the important things that are going on around this great planet of ours. Goethe wrote that “There is nothing more frightful than ignorance in action,” and that’s exactly why we strive to educate our viewers about events that are relevant to them. We want everyone to understand that we are all are tied to this world that we all share. Events that happen tens of thousands of miles away can have an impact on us as we sit in our own living rooms, movie theatres, or with our families for dinner - the scary part is, most of the time we don’t even know it.
When did your show start?
The first episode of SomethingTV (The Pilot) went live on September 30, 2008. The show has evolved since then and will continue to do so indefinitely!
How often are episodes released?
We strive to release a new episode every Sunday night. That means that Monday morning you should have a new episode of SomethingTV sitting in your iTunes, waiting to be watched! Unfortunately, we all have personal lives and sometimes our busy schedules can lead to the delay of an episode being released. Rest assured, if a show will be more than 24-hours late, you’ll find information about why and when it will be released in our News section.
Why do you guys make this show?
This question is related to what our show is about (listed above). The traditional news medium has lost viewership with the vast majority of young, educated, university and early-career men and women. These people can obtain a massive amount of current events information from the internet, but because of the sheer volume of information they are flooded with and the dryness of its presentation, they lose interest in being informed at all. By providing them with an organized, focused, and casual source for current events in a medium that they understand, have free access to, and often carry around in their pockets (via iPods and other mp3/video players), we hope to turn these people back into the informed masses - because, it’s when the population is informed and motivated that political, economic, environmental and technological change can happen.
